Yvonne McPartland, Petals Counsellor

Losing a baby can plunge you into a world of pain that you never could have imagined and that you feel will never ease. It may feel overwhelming and confusing and you may think it impossible for anyone else to understand as you feel disconnected from everyday life and your sense of self. The idea of talking it through with a stranger can seem pointless, especially if it is already hard to speak to those around you whom you love.

However, counselling at this time can be immensely helpful as you grapple to try to find a path through your pain. In a neutral space, it can help you to name and make sense of your difficult feelings, and to navigate your grief.

I have worked with many parents who have endured the loss of a baby, with the aim of helping them through the darkest days with empathy and compassion to process their loss while honouring their baby.  This support will help you find meaning again and to find a way of reconnecting to everyday life.

I have an Advanced Diploma in Counselling from the University of Cambridge. I currently run a small private practice as well as working with Petals.  My experience includes working in a GP practice, in two secondary schools and for MIND. I was also the deputy head of the staff counselling centre at the University of Cambridge for several years.
