The Missing 20

Help us stop saying no to 20

grieving parents a week

We deliver over 600 specialist counselling sessions a month. But despite that, there are at least 20 parents who request our help every week who hear the words ‘I’m sorry, we are unable to support you at this time.”

Not because they don’t need us, but because we simply don’t have the funding.

These are Our Missing 20.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Donate today and help us to say yes to more people

“It felt like a slap in the face. It’s a big step for people to reach out, and it is hard not to take the ‘no’ personally.”

Gemma experienced her second miscarriage exactly a year after her first. She knew she felt different – more angry this time.

But we were unable to help.

Baby loss is devastating. It happens at least 297 times a day in the UK and the emotional toll is profoundly underestimated. It is common for relationships to break down, for people to experience anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

Petals counselling is designed to help parents through this, one of the toughest experiences in their lives.

What we do:

We deliver bespoke, clinically verified therapyPetals Counselling to help parents process the trauma they have experienced and give them the tools to move forward.

Our Petals Counsellors, who are uniquely trained, deliver sessions online, free at the point of need.

We make an impact. 93% of our clients say Petals Counselling helped them to cope with their loss. 84% reported improved mental health.

Our expansion plan is straight-forward and our vision is clear: we want everyone who loses a baby to have access to proper mental health support.

We are ready to say yes, in every other way. We have Petals Counsellors working across the country, ready to pick up more cases. The processes and systems we need are in place. The only thing missing is the funding.

We know that asking for support is tough. Many parents come to us in a state of despair. If we have to say no, that is another layer of devastation for them. It feels wrong – it is wrong.

How your donation could help:

£20 – a pound for every one of The Missing 20 – could contribute towards the first triage session we hold for clients. It’s when they meet our counselling managers and learn more about how we can support them. They know more help is coming.

£45 could fund a counsellor attending one of our bi-annual training days

£80 would cover the cost of one of the five sessions parents have with our specialist Petals Counsellors.

Donate today and help us to say yes to bereaved parents who just want to find a way to move forward. Thank you.

“I really felt like I had someone 100% in my corner, rooting for me to heal. Honestly, I don’t know how I could have survived this year without Petals.” Former client, Rachel.
